Far too often, individuals claim to have a buyer or seller lined up, yet when asked about payment timelines, the response is either silence or deflection to “the lawyers arrange this.”
The correct answer to that is a resounding "NO".
We expect clear deadlines for cleared funds, marketing activity of the car only cease when payment terms are clearly defined. A deposit is never taken until a formal purchase agreement has been drafted, agreed upon by both legal entities, and signed by buyer and seller.
Only then is the deposit requested accompanied by a definitive schedule for full and final payment and expected date of funds having been approved as cleared.
If the buyer can't commit to the above they are not a buyer of any car we represent.
